ACCIDENT DESCRIPTION

This fatal car accident occurred at an intersection in Suffolk County on a clear October morning. The plaintiff was a 40 year-old mother of two who was driving to her job at a local grocery store. She was slowing to stop at a red traffic light when two other vehicles collided in the intersection in front of her. Those vehicles, a Dodge Ram and Toyota Tercel, had entered the intersection from different streets. Both drivers survived the crash and each driver claimed to have had a green light when he entered the intersection. As a result of that first collision, the Dodge Ram vehicle, which had been approaching the plaintiff’s vehicle from the oncoming direction, collided directly into the front of the plaintiff’s car.

DAMAGES

The plaintiff died instantly as a result of the collision. She left behind two daughters, who were 19 and 15 years old at the time of the incident.

SETTLEMENT

This case proceeded in Suffolk County and was settled just after discovery had begun for $2,545,000.
