The dedication to our clients has once more earned 12 Block O’Toole & Murphy attorneys the honor of being recognized by Super Lawyers magazine. In 2022, eight Block O’Toole & Murphy attorneys were named 2022 New York Metro Super Lawyers, and four of our attorneys were also named 2022 New York Metro Rising Stars.
Super Lawyers uses a selection process that uses peer recognition, client reviews, lectures, articles, verdicts, and settlement achievements, and more to determine the top lawyers in each state. Lawyers are first nominated by their peers and then evaluated in 12 key categories. Only the top 5% of lawyers in each practice area in each state earn the distinction of being included on the Super Lawyers list and 2.5% more are named Rising Stars. Attorneys that are either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less are eligible for Rising Stars inclusion.
The distinguished list of BOM Honorees includes the firm’s eight partners and four of their associates. Remarkably, this is the fifteenth year that Jeffrey Block and Daniel O’Toole have earned recognition as Super Lawyers. For the second year in a row, Jeffery Block and Stephen Murphy, a SuperLawyer Honoree for 13 years, were both named in the Top 100 2022 New York Metro Super Lawyers list.

“We are once again honored to have so many of our attorneys recognized by Super Lawyers,” said Partner Jeffrey Block, “Our attorneys work together as a team to get New Yorkers the justice they deserve.”
Block O’Toole & Murphy has attained more reported case results totaling over $1 million than any other law firm in New York State. The firm maintains an ethos that every client is the most important client—a staggering amount of time, resources and attention are devoted to every case.
“For us, it is about justice. It is important that we try to make things right for our clients, who far too often are struggling through tough times,” said Partner Stephen Murphy. “The people we represent, they want us in their corner.”
Helping those in need remains a priority at Block O’Toole & Murphy. In this same spirit, the firm tirelessly works each year to raise money for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, having hosted an Annual Wine Tasting for more than 15 years. Over $7 million has been raised since its inception, including more than $900,000 alone during a single night this past June.
“We just want to do our part. Our team is not afraid of hard work. We gravitate towards it. Sometimes that means persuading a jury about the merits of your case and, other times it may be raising money for children battling cancer,” said Daniel O’Toole, “We just think it is important to show up for the fights that matter.”
Block O’Toole & Murphy takes on serious accident cases that require expert representation, with clients that have suffered devastating injuries or death. The firm is frequently consulted by other lawyers with some of New York’s most significant cases. Block O’Toole & Murphy lawyers are responsible for some of New York’s landmark verdicts and settlements, like a $32 million result for a Vietnam Veteran that stands as one of the largest personal injury verdicts ever in Long Island as well as a record-breaking $110 million verdict in one of the largest non-medical malpractice verdicts in New York.
