Christopher Soverow
Associate
Originally from Virginia, Mr. Soverow came to New York with the goal of earning a law degree to help those in need. While attending Brooklyn Law School, he focused on public interest work. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, he volunteered for a workers’ rights organization that protected low wage and migratory workers from abusive labor practices by opportunistic contractors. Thereafter, he worked for an organization that advocated for the rights of indigenous peoples in various forums, including the United Nations. While balancing a busy class schedule and serving as Co-Chair for Brooklyn Law School Students for the Public Interest, Soverow worked for the Prisoners Rights Project of the Legal Aid Society. Prior to his final year of school, he interned with the New Orleans Public Defenders and assisted in representing indigent defendants charged with various crimes ranging from theft to murder.
Fresh out of law school, Soverow represented plaintiffs in federal court who were subjected to false arrest, excessive force, malicious prosecution, or unconstitutional search and seizure of property. Thereafter, for three years, he defended school districts and municipalities in Greater New York in a variety of constitutional law claims, including employment discrimination, First Amendment retaliation, false arrest, excessive force, substantive due process violations, unequal taxation, and unconstitutional seizure. Thereafter, he defended property owners or contractors in personal injury claims as well as representing or counseling insurance companies on insurance coverage disputes. Returning to representing plaintiffs, Soverow spent three years drafting and arguing substantive motions and appeals for numerous personal injury firms throughout New York who represented plaintiffs in the fields of labor law, medical malpractice, motor vehicle accident, and general premises liability. For two years prior to joining the firm, he represented injured construction workers at all stages of litigation, with a particular focus on substantive motions and appeals.
No matter the legal field, Chris Soverow is a passionate advocate for his client. Equally as comfortable at trial as he is on appeal, he works tirelessly to ensure his clients receive justice no matter the venue.
