Jeffrey Block Obtains Settlement for Victim in Suit vs. Great Adventure

Monday, February 9th, 2004

Six Flags Great Adventure has agreed to pay $750,000 to Betty Golembeski, 45 who was injured on a ride at its Hurricane Harbor water park. Ms. Golembeski from Brooklyn, sued after suffering neck and knee injuries on the 621-foot Big Bambu slide at the Jackson, NJ park on August 9, 2001.

The raft Ms. Golembeski was in with her children bottomed out because there wasn’t enough water in the pool at the end of the ride. Golembeski underwent knee surgery and amassed $18,000 in medical bills, Jeffery Block said. Her 11-year -old daughter suffered minor injuries, including a sprained neck. Her 8-year-old son was unhurt.

Block said the park knew about the danger, and that he found six other people who suffered similar injuries in the month before Golembeski was hurt.
