$1,200,000 Recovery For 53-Year-Old in Suffolk Country Suit
Plaintiff was operating a 2007 Ford sedan going south bound on Main Street in Port Jefferson. He had a green light as he traveled into the intersection with Sheep Pasture Road. The Defendant was operating a 2005 Honda SUV and was pulling out of a parking space on the north side of Main Street and was attempting to turn left. The Defendant was intoxicated and had no headlights on. At this time the Defendant crashed into the Plaintiff’s vehicle. The Defendant later pled guilty to driving while intoxicated in Suffolk County District Court.
The Plaintiff did not receive medical attention at the scene. He followed up for treatment the following day at St. Catherine’s of Siena Hospital. As a result of this crash, Plaintiff suffered disc herniations to his spine. After a course of conservative treatment the Plaintiff was compelled to undergo two surgeries as a result of this collision. Plaintiff underwent a lumbar fusion at L5-S1 and he later underwent a posterior cervical laminectomy and fusion at C3-4, C4-5 and C5.
Plaintiff agreed to settle the matter before trial for $1,200,000 out of the overall $1,250,000 in insurance coverage.
